Per reports, the Oklahoma City Thunder are making their intentions crystal clear for the future. Jalen Williams, fresh off an All-NBA season, has signed a five-year maximum rookie contract extension potentially worth up to $287 million.

This deal is monumental on its own, but it’s part of an even bigger commitment. Combined with extensions for Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren, the Thunder have now committed a staggering $822 million to keep their ‘Big 3’ together.

These contracts lock in Oklahoma City’s championship core through at least 2030. Williams has quickly proven himself as one of the best young wings in the league – versatile defender, efficient scorer, and a player who thrives in high-pressure moments. Shai has established himself as a perennial MVP candidate with his elite playmaking and unstoppable midrange game, while Holmgren continues to redefine the modern center position with his rim protection and perimeter skills.

This isn’t just about rewarding past performance. The Thunder are building for sustained success. They’ve already reached the pinnacle, capturing an NBA championship with this group, and now they’re making sure there are no distractions about the future as they enter their prime years.

For Thunder fans, this is exactly what you want to see from your franchise: keep your stars, reward your culture, and give yourselves a legitimate window to compete for multiple titles.
