Jacksonville just dropped one of the wildest traffic stop stories in recent memory. A routine December stop escalated into chaos when Jason Arrington, 39, ended up accidentally shot in the leg. Yep, you read that right—accidentally shot.
Arrington was pulled from his vehicle when Officer Mindy Caldwell tried to remove a firearm from his waist holster. Somehow, the gun went off. Instead of a ticket, Arrington got a bullet wound. Imagine that twist.

Bodycam footage released by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday shows the incident in all its messy glory. JSO didn’t shy away from admitting fault either. Internal Affairs slapped Caldwell with an “incompetence” charge, and the department is in the process of firing her.
Social media exploded after the video release. Comments range from roasting Caldwell to meme-worthy reactions. People are understandably upset—police work comes with high stakes, and mistakes like this aren’t exactly confidence-boosters.
To JSO’s credit, they owned the situation instead of covering it up. Officer Caldwell’s career is likely over, and hopefully, this serves as a wake-up call for better training and accountability.
As for Arrington, here’s hoping he’s on the mend and lining up a solid settlement. This story is one for the books, but let’s hope it’s not one we see repeated
