The UFC is doing something that would’ve sounded completely ridiculous a few years ago: hosting a fight card on the White House South Lawn.
On June 14, Freedom 250 is set to take place in Washington, D.C., with a lineup that mixes title fights, rising contenders, and proven action fighters. UFC president Dana White called the event “history-making,” and the setting alone guarantees it will be one of the more unique nights the promotion has ever staged.

At the top of the card, Ilia Topuria will defend his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje. Topuria has quickly become one of the UFC’s biggest stars, carrying an undefeated record and a reputation for sharp boxing and knockout power. Gaethje, meanwhile, remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the division. His aggressive style and willingness to trade make him a constant threat in any fight, which is why this matchup immediately stands out as one of the most compelling lightweight title bouts the UFC could make right now.
The co-main event adds another layer of intrigue. Alex Pereira is moving up to heavyweight to face Ciryl Gane for an interim title. Pereira has already held belts at middleweight and light heavyweight, and a win would put him in position to become a three-division champion. Standing in his way is Gane, one of the division’s most skilled heavyweights, known for his speed, movement, and technical striking. It’s a significant challenge and one that could reshape the heavyweight picture.
The rest of the main card features several notable matchups.
Sean O’Malley vs. Aiemann Zahabi brings one of the UFC’s most recognizable stars back into action. O’Malley’s striking and showmanship have made him a consistent draw, while Zahabi offers a durable and well-rounded test.
Mauricio Ruffy vs. Michael Chandler is another fight that should deliver action. Chandler has built his reputation on high-pressure, explosive performances, and Ruffy represents a dangerous opponent willing to engage.
Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus continues the development of one of the UFC’s most closely watched prospects. Nickal’s elite wrestling background has driven significant attention since his debut, and Daukaus provides experienced competition.
The main card also includes Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia, a matchup between two fighters known for aggressive styles and finishing ability.
Not everyone has been impressed with the lineup. Fighter and internet personality Dillon Danis publicly dismissed the card shortly after it was announced, offering a contrasting opinion to the excitement surrounding the event.
Still, between two title fights and a recognizable group of fighters across the card, Freedom 250 stands out as one of the UFC’s most ambitious events of the year. Combined with the unprecedented location on the White House South Lawn, the night is positioned to be a memorable moment for the sport.
