welcome to the latest episode of “What Were They Thinking?” featuring none other than Robert Nunes, the principal of Buhach Colony High School. The man couldn’t even wait a week into the new school year before breaking out his dance moves—and we’re not talking about your standard-issue dad dance at a wedding. Nah, this was something else entirely.
The principal of Buhach High School in CA has been put on leave after parents complained about this questionable performance.
The performance contained various s*xual undertones including tw*rking.

It’s just the third day of school. The students are still figuring out where the bathrooms are, and Nunes is already out here making headlines. Our guy decided to put on a little show with the school mascot, and it was a spectacle, to say the least. We’re talking about full-on twerking, some questionable hand placement—yup, his hands made their way down from the mascot’s chest—and just when you thought it couldn’t get any more ridiculous, he capped it off with, “What happens at Buhach stays at Buhach.”
Oh, really? Is that how it works, Nunes? Because it seems like what’s happening at Buhach is spreading far beyond those walls.
The school district is now in full damage-control mode, launching what they’re calling a “comprehensive review” of the situation. KFSN obtained a letter from the Merced Union High School District, informing parents that Principal Robert Nunes has been placed on administrative leave after an incident last Friday. In simpler terms, they’re scrambling to figure out how their principal turned into a wannabe TikTok star right before their eyes. Until the investigation wraps up, Nunes is benched—no school duties, no activities, nothing.
Now, let’s talk about the parents. Some are ready to march down to the school and demand his resignation. They’re outraged, saying this kind of behavior is downright inappropriate, especially from a guy who’s supposed to be setting an example for the kids. But on the flip side, you’ve got a bunch of folks who think this whole thing is overblown. It’s just a dance, they say, let the man have a little fun.
One thing’s for sure—no one saw this coming when they dropped their kids off on Day 1.
