Khamzat Chimaev’s Chokehold Shatters Robert Whittaker’s Jaw

So, here we go. Fight night delivered another jaw-dropper—literally. Robert Whittaker took on Khamzat Chimaev, and the result? A brutal reminder of just how unforgiving this sport can be.

Whittaker came in looking like he eats punches for breakfast. The early moments showed some back and forth—decent exchanges, both fighters trying to find their range. But Chimaev had other plans. He decided to take it to the ground early in the first round, asserting his dominance right off the bat. Chimaev maneuvers Whittaker into a choke hold that looks pretty standard at first. But then, in a split second, things go south. A solid choke on the mandibular, and BAM. Whittaker’s jaw? Snapped back.

The aftermath? Whittaker doesn’t stick around to play hero. He taps out immediately. The pain must have been unbearable. And it only gets worse from there. A photograph shared by Daniel Cormier shows the real damage: Whittaker’s front bottom teeth dislodged awkwardly back toward his throat, blood everywhere. Just brutal.

In the post-fight interview, Chimaev said he didn’t mean to break Robert’s chin, but hey, it’s his job. This is what pays him and his family.
